Anthropic Eyes $60B Valuation in New Funding Round

AI startup Anthropic is finalizing a $2 billion funding round, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, valuing it at $60 billion. Founded in 2021 by ex-OpenAI employees, Anthropic's chatbot, Claude, is popular among businesses but lags behind ChatGPT for general users.

Much of Anthropic’s funding comes from Amazon, which has invested $8 billion since 2023. The company also partners with Google, utilizing its data centers. Despite the AI industry's high costs and fierce competition, investors remain optimistic, driven by generative AI's transformative potential. Anthropic's projected revenue is $875 million, primarily from business clients.
